The Tire derived Steel or Tire Wire Scrap is a light melting scrap obtained during the shredding process of used tires.

This material is a by-product obtained during the granulation process of waste tyres.

Generally 10% - 20% of the weight of an old passenger car tyre usually consists of steel. An average shredding plant produces about 100-200 MT of steel tyre wire and its quality can vary according to technology, storing and management systems adopted by the producing plants.

The current technologies, in order to protect the machines in the downstream by usury, generally remove the wire from the process at the earliest possible stage. Pre-shredding is usually followed by a first granulation stage in which, depending on the configuration of the plant, a screener of 15 to 25 mm filters the rubber chips. Directly after this granulation, a magnetic device separates the steel wire from the rubber. Along with the wires, around 10 to 35 percentage by weight of rubber and textiles is also withdrawn, so the final recovery of the material differs in function of the contamination grade of the material (rubber/fiber).

Another key factor is if the material is duly protected by the atmospheric agents.

Since the material is formed by thin wires it can easily oxidize so a key factor in improving its quality is to protect the wire from any atmospheric agent(storing it in the warehouse on in Big Bag)

At a visual evaluation it is formed by thin and shredded wires containing different grades of fiber and rubber. It is a harmonic steel with high content of Carbon that can be up to 0,80% and it bronze or copper –coated as highlighted by the chemical analysis below:

According to the contamination grade our tire wire can be primary recycling in a EAF plant. If required we can also provide a very clean material in briquetted form in order to enhance the melting performance of the material.
If the material still has an high grade of contaminates the material can be processed in authorized facilities that submit the material to physical o thermophysical treatments to obtain a material more suitable for remelting

EUROPEAN RECYCLE LTD as a distributor can offer different grades of steel wire in different packages in order to meet you requirements. Contact us for further details.
